How to Publish Microsoft saved console(.msc) type applications

About this document

  • Steps to publish Microsoft saved console type applications via Accops HyWorks.

Procedure:

  1. Take RDP of the Application server from where the .msc file has to be published.
  2. Create a batch file with the following context.
  3. Open a notepad and type below commands:
        Echo off
        Start C:\Windows\System32\mmc.exe dsa.msc
  4. Save this file with extension “.bat” in an accessible location.
  5. Go to Management console, under Configurations click on Workspace -> Applications.
  6. Click on “Add”
  7. Fill in the details as seen in the below image.
    1. Under “Browse application details” Select the Session Team and the Session provider and click on browse.
    2. Navigate to the batch file path and click on “Get details”.
    3. The “Application Path” should reflect the path of the batch file.
    4. Under application icon, you may select the “last saved icon” or “Use default icon” as batch file icon cannot be fetched.
  8. Publish the application with remaining details that are to be filled as per the usual norms.


NOTE (For dsa.msc):

  • We are assuming that “Dsa.msc” is accessible via run.
  • “Dsa.msc” gets installed automatically on machines that have the Active Directory Domain Services role installed. For machines that aren't running the AD DS role, follow below.
  • Open Server Manager, go to the Features section
  • Add Features
  • Remote Server Administration Tools - Role Administration Tools - Active Directory Domain Services Tools - Active Directory Domain Controller Tools
  • Next, Finish.
